Year 5

Cedar and Willow

What a fantastic start to the year we have had! It has been wonderful to welcome the children back after the summer holidays and see them settle so quickly into Year 5. Throughout the term, they have worked incredibly hard, shown great enthusiasm, and set meaningful goals to work on over the year ahead.

Our learning about the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons has been a real highlight of the term, providing countless opportunities to explore history and discover fascinating facts. Since the beginning of the term, the children have embraced every opportunity to develop their creativity in writing. They have produced fantastic Viking-inspired diary entries, capturing the thoughts, feelings and experiences of people living during the Viking period. We are looking forward to carrying on learning and exploring about the Vikings next term.

The children have shown their creativity brilliantly during Art and DT this term through our exciting Viking longboat project. They have explored the design of Viking longboats and carefully created their own unique sails, thinking about the colours, patterns and symbols they wanted to include. The children have also been developing their sewing skills, learning how to attach their sails with increasing accuracy and confidence. They have thoroughly enjoyed creating these so far and are looking forward to bringing their designs to life by constructing their own Viking longboats in the coming weeks.

We would like to pass on a message to the Year 5 children. Thank you for all of your hard work, dedication and teamwork this term. You have all been brilliant!
