The Grove Primary School

Resource Base - Oak Class

Oak Class has had a fantastic start to the year and the children have settled back into school life really well. They have worked hard to learn routines and have grown in confidence as the term has progressed.

This term, our topic has been "How Have I Changed Since I Was a Baby?" The children have enjoyed learning about babies and the human life cycle, exploring how people grow and change over time. They loved looking at baby photos, discussing what babies can and cannot do, and comparing this to what they can do now.

We have also started our English lessons, enjoying stories, discussions, and having a go at writing sentences using Colour Semantics. The children have worked hard to develop their communication skills and have shown increasing confidence in sharing their ideas.

The children have become more involved in the wider school community by attending assemblies and joining the KS1 playground, where they have enjoyed playing alongside other children and making new friendships.

A highlight of the term was our Harvest Festival performance. The children worked hard to learn songs and were very proud to perform for their families. It was wonderful to see them shine and celebrate all their hard work. We also enjoyed a special autumn activity when we carved a giant pumpkin kindly donated by our lovely MDSA, Ange. The children loved exploring the pumpkin and discovering what was inside.

Our Forest School sessions have provided lots of exciting learning opportunities too. The children enjoyed listening to stories

and warming up with a delicious hot chocolate. These sessions have helped to develop confidence, teamwork, and a love of the outdoors.

Throughout the term, we have seen the children make great progress with their independence and social skills. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and look forward to another exciting term of learning and fun.
